Cloud Migration Services to AWS and Other Platforms
Cloud migration services move your software, data and servers to a cloud platform such as AWS. Done well, your users barely notice the move. The system keeps running, and afterwards it is easier to run and to grow.
Arc AI is two engineers, Bozhidar Ivanov and Ivaylo Valchev. We plan every move first. We test it on a copy, and we keep a way back.
Signs it is time to move
- Your system runs across several hosting providers, and nobody has the full picture.
- The database runs on the same server as the application.
- One busy day or one failed server can take the site down.
- Backups exist, but nobody has tested a restore.
- Every change to the servers depends on one person.
Work you can check: Best Agents on AWS
Best Agents is a portal that matches home buyers and sellers with local estate agents. We moved it to AWS as independent engineers, and we still look after it. It is public, so you can open it yourself.
Before. The portal ran on a mix of providers. Its MySQL database ran on the application server itself.
What we did. We moved the portal's servers and its database onto AWS. The database moved to Amazon RDS, the managed database service. A load balancer now spreads traffic across the servers. The move came with the rebuild that our legacy system modernization page describes.
The switch. The old and the new system ran side by side while we moved the data across in planned stages.
Cloud, VPS or your own servers
AWS is one option, not the only one. We also run production systems on other cloud providers, on VPS servers and on dedicated servers. When needed, we set up the servers from the ground up. The right choice depends on your traffic, your budget and your data rules. The written plan compares the options for your system.
How we migrate without stopping your business
- Map what runs where. We list every server, database, domain and account, and who controls each one. Our article on taking over a software project explains why control comes first.
- Test a restore. Before we move anything, we check that a backup of your data restores.
- Build the new setup. We set up the servers, database and network on the new platform.
- Rehearse on a copy. We move a copy of the data and test the system end to end.
- Switch over. Both systems run side by side while we change the DNS. The old system stays ready as a way back.
- Check and hand over. We watch the new setup closely after the switch, then document it for your team.
Choosing what to move and how
Not every system should move as it is. Sometimes we move it unchanged. Sometimes we change parts of it during the move, for example to use a managed database. The written plan tells you which approach fits. If the software itself is hard to change, our legacy system modernization page covers that work.
A move to the cloud is also a good moment to prepare for AI. Our AI readiness assessment shows what your system needs first.
Your data and your code
- You own all the code and the setup we create for you.
- The cloud account is yours, in your company's name.
- We work under GDPR and sign a data processing agreement when you need one.
How a project starts
- A free first call. It takes about 30 minutes, by video or phone, in your working hours, in Europe or the US.
- A review. You give us read access to the servers and accounts. We sign an NDA if you want one.
- A written plan. It says what to move, how and in what order, with the risks and the cost. The review and plan are a small paid step, and we agree the cost before it starts.
- The move. We work in small, tested steps. After each step you get a short update.
Questions people ask
What are cloud migration services?
They move your software, data and servers to a cloud platform such as AWS. They cover the plan, the move itself and the checks afterwards.
Will our site go down during the move?
Usually not for long. We run the old and new systems side by side while the DNS changes. The old system stays ready as a way back.
How much does a cloud migration cost?
It depends on the size of the system and how much changes during the move. The paid review gives you the cost in the written plan, before the move starts.
Do you only work with AWS?
No. We also run production systems on other cloud providers, on VPS servers and on dedicated servers. We pick the platform that fits your system.
